When we speak of technology with a heart, we say Volvo. The remarkable core values that wrap every Volvo make are safety, quality, and environmental concern. Volvo takes pride in manufacturing cars that put these values into consideration. Volvo is well-reputed for its creation of heavy equipment such as tractors and its award-winning mileage. But above all else, the value held most dear by the makers of Volvo is the safety of the driver behind the wheels.
Having been under the wings of Ford Motors, Volvo Cars experienced the same downturn Ford had to go through in the US market in the early times and ownership went from the original Volvo AB to Ford Motors and, ultimately, Geely Holding Group. Whoever the owner is, the point is that car makers do value the importance of Volvo Cars in the market that they could not let go of it and make it a point that its production continues. And because of this, Volvo has remained in existence and in consistent production up until this time.
Going back to safety as the main value of Volvo carmakers, they have pioneered in the creation of many car safety equipment such as the three-point safety belt, laminated glass, padded dashboard, central high-mounted stoplight separate from tail lights, rear-facing child seat, and the Side Impact Protection System that was designed to divert the side impact force in case of an accident. These are just some of the many safety equipment design by Volvo carmakers since the 1940s to the early to mid 1990s. One will be amazed at what else Volvo cars have created the years later. No other car manufacturing company has ever come up with this kind of safety precautions for its customers.
Moreover, Volvo Cars also put into consideration the safety of the persons other than the driver and the passengers and also of other vehicles. In 2009, Volvo designed a detector that automatically stops the car if an obstruction has been detected in front of the car and another one in 2010 which is able to detect pedestrians.
Also remarkable with Volvo cars is their tri-digit nomenclature. Basically, in most models, the first digit stands for the series number, the second for the number of cylinders, and the last is for the number of doors. However, in some cases, this does not apply. Lately, the models have been named by a letter followed by two numbers. The letters stand for the car type such as S for sedan, C for coupe, etc. The naming system, appearing simple as it seems, had complications with competing sports car makers such as Audi and Ferrari.
Just like other car companies, Volvo also addressed the issue of oil crisis and has developed its own electric car they called Volvo C30 Drive. Volvo cars continue to develop their already outstanding qualities equipped with superior safety technology. The bottom line is Volvo knows the heart of the matter - providing not only quality, but also security.
