With so many hatchback cars from the Tata Motors, present in the market, Tata’s have decided to make the hatch back segment their bastion. Though the early versions of Tata Cars were not fascinating & people never felt proud in saying that they enjoy driving Tata cars but Tata raised the bar high, in the fuel efficiency index, which made people to go for these cars. Tata motors launched its one of the most accepted models, Tata Indica, a hatchback car. The car was known for its fuel efficiency & hence was sold in large numbers. Company had not given anything new to the looks of Tata Indica & thus when the company announced that they would be soon launching its face lifted version, then many people who had planned to book Tata Indica, postponed their purchase, till the arrival of the new version.
The front face of Indica Vista resembles to the elder sister, Tata Manza. It gets ardent looks because of its chrome grille & elongated head lamps. Chrome lines run from the front portion of the body to the side & end at the rear door. Below the rear windshield, there is a garnishing, black in color but we think that if it would have been in the chrome, it would have looked eye catching. Interiors are where it diversifies itself from the bunch of the cars. To embellish the appearance & style, Vista has 4 trims, inbuilt music system with 6 speakers, dashboard with a USB slot & Bluetooth. Dashboard has a long space on it to keep accessories & is curvaceous in nature to give more space to people. The car may revolutionize the segment as it has got audio controls on the steering.
Its predecessor, Indica, was also high in the comfort level & seating & thus Indica Vista is no different. Adjustable headrests at the comfortable position, lumbar & thigh support provide great cushion, insulating the passengers from jerks offered by pothole roads. With the tiltable steering & the adjustable driver seat, car can have driver of any shape & size. Apart from the plastic, the comprehensive look of the dashboard has been improved. In many cars we have noticed that the big & semi circular instrument panel distracts the vision of the driver, by creating obstruction. We suppose that Tata’s have realized this problem & thus it has been kept in the center of the dashboard. With this arrangement, the portion of the dashboard just in front of the driver has been left with ample amount of space which can be used judiciously for keeping small items or frequently used papers.
While going for the test drive, we tried to start the engine by rotating the keys, but it didn’t start which made a poor impression of Tata’s in our mind. But later we got to know that the car can only be started when the clutch is fully pressed, an impressive feature which removed all our doubts which encircled our minds initially when the car was not starting. Certain issues which we realized were that when the members of our team boarded the car, because of its low ground clearance, lower part of the vehicle touched the ground while moving over the speed breakers. The substandard tyres fitted in the car cannot be trusted as on the very first drive, car had a flat tyre.
