Nissan is a very young car manufacturing company but it nevertheless climbs its way on top very conveniently. Nissan was able to reach India in 2005. Nissan Motor India Private Ltd. (NMIPL) is Nissan Motor Limited Japan’s subsidiary in India. It is guided by the company vision of “Enriching People’s Lives”.
Since 2005, Nissan has consistently introduced its technology and products all over India. Nissan manufactures cars locally in India through the Chennai plant and the latest Renault-Nissan plant. It also exports and imports other Nissan cars because as of date, it provides X-Trail for the SUV segment, Teana for the Sedan segment, 370Z as the iconic sports car, and Micra to India. Among the mentioned cars, only Nissan Micra is locally made in India. All others are exported as completely built units from Japan. Currently, Nissan Micra, which Nissan has started producing only in 2010, has reached its 100,000th unit by June of 2011.
As young as it is as a car manufacturing company in India, Nissan in India has forged a partnership with another company to improve its sales. NMIPL tapped Hover Automotive India (HAI) to oversee its sales and marketing, dealer development, and customer service among others. This proved to be a strategic alliance since Nissan aims to reach at least a hundred dealers in two years time. Currently, it has thirty dealers in India. With this strategic partnership, NMIPL can further expand its car making industry and compete on the top of the Indian market.
Nissan Motor India Private Ltd. has established a global philosophy. It aimed to present and maintain its corporate sustainability. And on the record, NMIPL has been known as a company which contributes positive effects to the community. A number of projects have been credited to the NMIPL in India. These projects include building residential homes for relocated families, and constructing police and fire stations.
Apart from this, NMIPL also forged partnerships with different institutions for socially desirable results. For example, its partnership with ‘Habitat for Humanity’ has helped provide homes for the poor sector of India. Other notable contribution of Nissan Motor India Private Ltd. in India is providing jobs for thousands of India’s work force.
This proved that not only does Nissan Motor India Private Ltd. forge partnerships in order to grow as a company and earn profits; it also forged partnerships in order to help in the development of India as well as the improvement of the lives of its people. This corporate sustainability, the very philosophy Nissan in India lives up to, is a driving force of economic growth for the car manufacturing industry as well as a positive contribution to the social welfare of the people in India. This also proved that Nissan has remained true to its promise since it was established, which is to enhance people’s lives.
Nissan proved that even if a company is young, it can make big contributions to the society while paving its way on top of the market.
