Renowned utility carmaker of India, Mahindra & Mahindra, had a joint venture with French auto maker, Renault. This collaboration led to the development of Logan. This car was manufactured till 2011, when both the companies parted ways. Now Mahindra & Mahindra has revamped the car & has launched it by the name of Mahindra Verito. Though the car, launched with changes in the exterior design & interior functionality, falls in the category of a sedan, but it is smaller than an actual sedan, hence making it a pressed sedan.
With the launch of luxury sedans by various other Automobile makers, the competition in the sedan segment is getting tough with the passage of each day hence Mahindra Verito Car is going to have a bitter fight with a very long list of sedans, which are already present in the market. Other contestants in the segment are Toyota Etios, Hyundai Accent, Ford Fiesta, Maruti Swift Dzire and Aveo from Chevrolet. It is powered by the same engine, which was used to propel Logan. The car has energizing exteriors & the degree of the level of comfort is also quite good. Company has launched it in good number of colors & variants, providing ample of options to people who are willing to go for it. One of the latest launches from Mahindra & Mahindra, Verito has both, the petrol & diesel, engines under its hood, depending on the variants. In the diesel category, it has 1.5 liter engine with Common Rail Diesel Injection as the fuel system. On the other hand, its 1.4 liter petrol engine has MPFI (Multi Point Fuel Injection) technology as its fuel system.
The Power & torque specifications for the petrol engine are 75 BHP at 5500 RPM & 110 Nm at 300 RPM respectively. Power produced by the diesel engine (65 BHP at 4000 RPM) is less than that of petrol, but the situation get reversed when we talk about the torque, as the torque produced in diesel engine (160 Nm at 2000RPM) is higher than the same generated in the petrol engine. Similarity lies in the case of the gear box as they both have been mated with 5-Manual Transmission Gear Box. The mileage of the Verito Car is 11.3 km/l in city & 15.7 km/l on highways, for the petrol variant & in the diesel variant it gives 13.8 km/l & 19.2 km/l of mileage, in city & on highways, respectively. After separating itself from Renault, the biggest change, Mahindra has done to this face lifted version of Logan is fixing its symbol on the grille, by replacing that of Renault. Other changes like roof rails, body cladding, bulging rear spoiler, newly designed rectangular fog lamps are also visible. The ‘V’ shaped grille helps is maneuvering at high speeds.
In its interiors, as the whole attention has been paid only to the legroom & head room, giving comfortable space for the body parts movement, due to which the finish of the car is not outstanding. Though Mahindra designers have put their best foot forward, while designing the car, but still the look seems to be out of fashion. Also there are some safety features, which are absent from this car.
