Tata Indigo Marina A car that does not compromise on power, luxury and safety, Tata Indigo Marina lives up to its tag of ‘Big on Space Big on Life’. It’s a C-segment car with a luxury of a sedan and utility of a MUV. It offers a lot of space, rear space for comfort, better fuel mileage and fuel economy. This one is actually a station wagon version of Tata’s popular model Indica. The petrol model of Tata Indigo Marina is powered by a 1405 cc MPFI Petrol Engine with 16-bit microprocessor, which generates a power of 85 Ps at 600 rpm an a torque of 11 kgm at 3000 rpm. Under the hood of its diesel variants lies a Turbo Charged 1405 cc Indirect Injection Engine with Intercooler, pumping out a power of 70 Ps at 4500 rpm and maximum torque of 13.5 kgm at 2500 rpm. The latest Marina LX DICOR is powered by a 32-bit microprocessor-based 1366 cc DICOR (Direct Injection Common Rail) 16- valve engine, churning out a power of 70 Ps AT 400 rpm and a maximum torque of 140 NM at 1800-3000 rpm. A few prominent features include rails on the roof, doors having rub rails on them, chrome plated front grille, wheels fully covered, twinkling tail-lights, tinted door glasses, bumper in the body colour of the model and headlamps of clear lens. Tata Indigo Marina has spacious interiors where four passengers can easily sit in comfort inside it. Little storage spaces are designed at important locations. This model has also been furnished with net for retaining luggage, retractable luggage cover, the rear seat has a facility for double folding it and truck lamp. A sporty steering wheel and a gearshift knob that is completely wound with leather add further effect to the car. The car has 670 litres of merged space for luggage, made approachable from inside by folding up the parcel shelf that is retractile or just packing it. Basic safety features like anti-submarine front seats, collapsible steering columns, rear spoiler with integrated brake light, child security locks on the backside doors, a device for leveling the headlamp, side impact beams and seat belts have been used. Tata Indigo Marina comes in two petrol variants GLS and GLX, whereas the diesel-driven Marina comes in two models- LS and LX. The latest among the variants is Indigo Marina LX DICOR. The car is available is various classy colors including Arctic Silver, Carbon Black, Cosmic Blue, Mica Grey, Mint White, Sunrise Pearl, Sparkling Gold and Starry Grey. Tata Indigo Marina GLS Petrol is priced at Rs. 4.86 lakhs, GLX Petrol at 5.22 lakhs, LS Diesel at 5.23 lakhs, LX Diesel at 5.72 lakhs, LX Dicor Diesel at 6.22 lakhs. The car has premium lifestyle appeal and excellent performance on both city and off-road tracks. The model comes with a few drawbacks that include poor ground clearance, poor interior quality material, lesser torque in lower gear, poor acceleration below 2000 rpm and anti-locking braking system and no air-bag for driver. But as a perfect blend of luxury, space and cost-efficiency, the car is sure to be a market catcher.
