Honda has announced the launch of its multi-purpose vehicle, Mobilio, to take place in 2014. The Japanese automobile manufacturer seems to continue its aggressive comeback trail in 2014, when most other car companies have only refreshments to launch.
Honda Mobilio is based on Amaze platform and will compete with Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, much like Amaze directly challenged Swift DZire. The Japanese company has resolved its diesel issue and will, obviously, launch the upcoming MPV with both petrol and diesel engines. However, Mobilio is not the lone launch by Honda expected in 2014, new City and Jazz are also awaited to appear on Indian roads the same year.
Honda launched Mobilio especially for Indonesian market, which is well developed for MPVs. However, the company decided to introduce it to Indian market too. Thus, it will directly lock horns with currently leading Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. Mobilio is slightly larger and much more stylish than Ertiga. Thus, the Honda model may edge out its competitor in both room and look. To maintain its premium image over that of Maruti Suzuki, Honda has priced its upcoming MPS slightly higher than Ertiga. It did the same with Amaze and the kind of success that the sedan registered is assurance of similar response for Mobilio too.
The interiors of the MPV are similar to Brio and Amaze while exterior has been made bit more aggressive with the installation of new front bumper. Since, Mobilio is run by the same engine that propels Amaze, power and efficiency will be almost same.
