Tata Aria, India’s first crossover has been introduced by our own Tata Motors. Tata Aria was first shown to general public during the Delhi Auto Expo in the year 2010. This crossover between a SUV & a sedan is the most expensive of all the cars, rolled out by Tata Motors. Before we take you in the depth of this car, let us introduce you to the crossover segment. Crossover car is a car in which the features have been borrowed from two different segment cars. Cars like, Ford Fusion, Mitsubishi Outlander & Chevrolet Captiva, are some of the examples belonging to this category & these were launched in the Indian market. But none of these was able to perform well in the glittering car market.
After seeing the performance of the above mentioned cars, we were curious to know that whether this home production will be able to change the prevailing trend in the present crossover market of India or will it remain the same & to know the results we booked a test drive of Tata Aria Car. Starting from the interiors, the airbags have been fitted at every desirable place & the list does not end to chilled glove compartment, disc brakes 4 in number, Anti lock braking system, ESP, AWD & satellite navigation. Most of the interior features of luxury sedans, falling under the same price as that of Aria, form other manufacturers like Volkswagen, Skoda & Toyota have been included in Aria.
If we name Tata Aria’s competitors, then they can be counted on the finger tips. Toyota Innova, Mahindra Safari, Yeti from Skoda & Mahindra Xylo are the only competitors which can compete with it. But people have got bored of seeing so many Innova & Scorpion’s crawling on the roads, Mahindra Xylo is a good car but it does not stand nowhere in front of Aria when we talk about features & the last is Yeti, which can accommodate only 5 people as compared to Aria’s 7. Because of such a low competition in the segment, Tata’s are having a wide smile on their face.
The car will be a rage among the youngsters as they have always preferred a masculine vehicle with the refreshing looks. The car being capacious enough, will top the demand list of the people who enjoy travelling with their big families, either to visit someone in the rocky countryside or to go on an adventure trip. Most of our journeys are spent moving either on city lanes or on fast moving highways & for this purpose 2 wheel drive is enough, but god forbid, if you found yourself struck in some terrain, then to help you out, Tata has given an option of 4 wheel drive in Aria. With so many likes, it has some features which were disliked too & topping the list is the space available in the last row. If any known person of yours boards the last row seat, then we can assure you that, that will be his/her last trip in the car & he/she will never join you in Tata Aria again.
People who enjoy driving a car with like manual gear box will also not be happy as it comes with automatic transmission only.
