Mitsubishi Outlander is manufactured by Japan based company Mitsubishi Motors. Originally this car was known as Mitsubishi Airtrek when it was first introduced in the year 2001 in Japan. It was generally based on Mitsubishi's ASX concept and it represented the company's approach towards SUV trend that would provide a high ground clearance and a four wheel drive. It was actually the second generation of Airtrek and every market including Japan accepted the name Outlander for the car. This SUV had already made a huge impact on the market and because of its growing popularity in Japan, Australia, North America, Western Europe and Canada the car was first introduced in India in the year 2008 in the month of October. It came up with a lot of new features and proved as a tough competitor for most of the other cars that were in the same class.
The Mitsubishi Outlander came with a 2.4l, 16 valve MIVEC engine capable of generating power of 170 PS @ 6000rpm and atorque of 226Nm @ 4100rpm. It is easy to ride this car in difficult terrains as it has a six speed paddle shifts on the steering wheel. The exteriors of the car are highly muscular with big wheel arches, a solid thick bumper, and deeply set headlamps. Outlander is a five-seater car that comes with split tail gate and big bench like seats for at least two adults. If it is observed carefully then it can be seen that the interiors of the car are highly spacious and luxurious as well. It has a built in music system that is from Fosgate and the seats are covered in leather mostly beige. If the seats in the last row are folded, there is a lot of boot space in the cabin. The tough body of the Mitsubishi Outlander features roof panels that are made of aluminum and adds to the basic stability of the car. The car has great suspension both in the rear and in the front, multi link suspensionat the rear that helps in absorbing pothole bumps and rides on even the most uneven of roads as a result of which the driver gets a good handling.
Regarding the safety of Outlander it can be said that it has one of the latest and best safety equipments which can protect the occupants of the car from even the worst of collisions. The safety features of the Mitsubishi Outlander includes air bags both in the front seat and also for the co-passengers, the a/c comes up with automatic climate control, sensors for reverse parking, display system with multi information, alarm, immobilizer technique for the engine. There are generally four models that available which are SE, ES, GT and XLS. The negative aspects of this car may include a ride that may be seem to be too stiff as the 2nd row seating space which is available is very less. Passengers occupying the 3rd seat will face even more challenges as the 3rd row seats are not padded properly and may pose problems even for children.
